New Life

David Kruse, MD, FACEP

My son was born at 36 weeks and initially did well. However within a week of his birth, he had lost significant weight and also developed a cutaneous MRSA infection. He had to be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics and evaluation for failure to thrive. It scared the heck out of us, bringing both of us as physician parents to our knees. We were especially scared because we knew too many possibilities. Life is so fragile and precious.

Here is the "prequel" shot to "New Life." While in the hospital, all we could do is watch, pray and wait. This is a picture that I did while in the hospital, trying to take my mind off of things. It's a little blurry because it was handheld in low light.

For us, it was a happy, humbling ending.
